Rough Cut Lab

Rough Cut Lab is a workshop for editors with the aim of discussing the narrative construction in the editing process and the role of the editor in the creation of a film.

ROUGH CUT LAB PROGRAM

Two Brazilian documentary projects in post-production and a grupo of 30 editors (observers) participate in workshop with the editor. Tutor to be defined.

The program will be held online, between November 7 – 11.

MASTER CLASS – edition

During one session, we’ll dive into specialist editor’s work and thoughts.

EXHIBITION AND ANALYSIS I project 1

The focus of this will be the analysis of the selected project, establishing a dialogue between the editors, filmmakers and the tutor.

DIALOGUE WITH EDITORS

DATE AND TIME TO BE DEFINED| venue: ONLINE

The tutor will address the conceptual aspects of the editing work in a documentary, and will propose strategies to find and build the story from the raw material.

Accreditation as observers give access to:

  • -Feedback session with a specialist editor about the film project stage.
  • -Master Class of Editing, activity of projects exhibition and analysis, activity of dialogue with editors.
  • -General accreditation for DOCSP Seminars

Ms’d Up tells the story of Rafael Corrêa, a cartoonist diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2010. In a hybrid narrative, the action starts from a childhood memory. As a child, Rafael cruelly and without reason killed a frog, crushing its left side. The first symptoms of the disease paralyze his left hand, the hand with which he draws, and he starts to believe in a kind of karma.

Nothing about my father

Nothing about my father is director Susanna Lira’s search for the true story of her father, whom she never knew. Susanna grew up knowing she was the daughter of a young Ecuadorian guerrilla fighther who came to Brazil to fight the military dictatorship in the 1970. Susanna flies to Quito, her father’s birthplace, and tells her story to dozens of Ecuadorian press outlets in hope to find him.
