When my kids were young I, looking for a free, anti-homophobic upbringing, used to say that when they grew up they could date boys or girls. But the moment my son (who I had previously seen as a girl) told me he was trans, I found myself under an avalanche of doubts: How can I give up the name I chose? How to respond to the demand for changes in the body? How to deal with social violence towards LGBTQI + people?

Welcome Back, Farewell

After 13 years working in a factory in Japan, within the ‘dekassegui phenomenon’, my parents came back to Brazil wishing to start a new life. Through difficulties of the readaptation to the country, they face another challenge: parents and children don’t know each other anymore due to the long separation. Stuck in a cycle of unsuccessful business ventures, ilnesses and geographical shifts, Japan appears, once again, as the only alternative.
